Location

The Przykona Commune is located in the eastern part of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship (Great Poland Province), territorially bordering the Łódź Voivodeship and the Poddębice county. It is situated at the state road nr 72 Łódź – Uniejów – Turek –Poznań, on the Teleszyna river and it borders the communes of Dobra, Brudzew, Uniejów and Turek.

Natural values

There are forest complexes on the lands of the Przykona Commune, which cover a large part of the commune. Among them there is Czarny Las (Black Forest), the largest compact forest complex, where the trees probably remember the beginning of the 18th century. The aforementioned forests are at the same time the habitat for the unique black stork, which is a sensation in the Polish natural environment. Among the forests there are interesting natural values such as the old oaks in the Czarny Las forest district and in the Trzymsze village. The commune’s forest complex, due to the occurrences of the unique flora, lowland bogs, inland saline meadows and bird sanctuary of international rank, is included in the Landscape Protection Area of the Warta valley.

While exploring the Przykona Commune it is worthwhile to visit the following buildings and places:

• the Manor in Żeroniczki, which is a typical nobility manor house, with an interesting architectural shape 
•  the church in Psary dedicated to the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the beginning of the 20th century, a three-aisled basilica, with the chancel painted by Eligiusz Niewiadomski 
• devoid of style, brick parish church dedicated to St Peter and St Paul in Boleszczyn, from the beginning of the 19th century 
• the annular emplacement of an early medieval stronghold “Smulska Górka” (Smulsko Hill) , situated amidst the meadows 
• conical medieval stronghold situated between the Trzymsze village and the Teleszyna river.

Tourist attractions

The Przykona water body is at the same time the primary tourist advantage of the commune and its most important attraction, which stimulates the development of tourism and recreation and contributes to the improvement of the surroundings’ microclimate, and the island in its centre creates living conditions for many bird species. At present the water body is becoming increasingly popular among the windsurfing enthusiasts, who come here from all the corners of the country.

Social integration

The Przykona Commune is an organizer of many cultural and integration events, which have their regular place in the cultural calendar and are associated with Przykona. Among the most popular there are:

• the Days of Przykona (2nd quarter)
• the Village Council Fair (3rd quarter)
• the Communal Harvest Festival (3rd quarter)
• the Wielkopolska Competition and the County Grand Prix of Table Tennis (2nd quarter) 
• the Mayor’s Cup New Year’s Chess Championship (1st quarter).
